Inskeep, Wade earn second-team All-Conference USA accolades on Tuesday

IRVING — The junior pair of Scott Inskeep and Triston Wade earned second-team All-Conference USA honors in a vote of the circuit's head coaches, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Inskeep, who was a preseason all-conference choice and second-team All-Western Athletic Conference honoree last fall, started all 12 games and helped UTSA post a 7-5 overall record, including a 6-2 mark in C-USA play, and the Roadrunners tied a program record by winning their final five outings of the season.

The offense averaged 25.6 points, 417.8 total yards (175.4 rush/242.4 pass), 21.9 first downs and 32:24 possession time per contest and the McAllen native graded out at 82 percent in addition to being second on the squad with 61 knockdown blocks, including a season-best nine at Tulsa (Nov. 9) and again a week later against Tulane.

Meanwhile, Wade followed up his first-team All-WAC campaign with a team-leading 95 tackles (49 solos/45 assists) and two interceptions to go along with seven pass breakups and 2.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage in starting all dozen contests. The Tyler native intercepted both his passes at Tulsa (Nov. 2), one of which he returned 82 yards for a touchdown, and he also broke up a toss in the end zone to go along with four stops in that contest. He recorded a career-high 12 stops at Arizona (Sept. 14) and matched that feat two weeks later against Houston (Sept. 28). His third double-digit performance came in an 11-tackle effort at North Texas (Nov. 23).

Eleven Roadrunners — Codie Brooks (Fr., DE), Cody Harris (Jr., OT), Cole Hubble (Jr., TE), Nic Johnston (Jr., S), Kam Jones (Jr., WR), Steven Kurfehs (Sr., LB), Ashaad Mabry (Jr., DT), Bennett Okotcha (So., CB), Robert Singletary (Jr., DE), Eric Soza (Sr., QB) and Kristian Stern (Jr., P) — were honorable mention selections.
