IRVING — Codie Brooks was named to Conference USA's All-Freshman Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The defensive end from Seguin finished his first campaign with 34 tackles (18 solos/16 assists), a team-leading five sacks, four pass breakups and a fumble recovery in his 11 games of action (five starts).
An honorable mention all-league selection earlier Tuesday, Brooks registered a pair of sacks against No. 13 Oklahoma State (Sept. 7) and added two more at Marshall (Oct. 5). The 6-foot-1, 250-pound walk-on also posted a season-high five stops, a pass breakup and his lone fumble recovery of the year against the Thundering Herd.
