Roadrunners to travel to Waco for Athletes In Action Classic

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will look to continue its winning ways this weekend when it plays three games in three days at the Athletes In Action Classic in Waco.

The Roadrunners (1-2) will open tournament play at 5 p.m. on Thursday against former Southland Conference foe Northwestern State (2-0). The Lady Demons hold a 26-14 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to the 1991-92 season and they won the last meeting by a score of 61-57 on Jan. 18, 2012, in Natchitoches, La.

UTSA will square off with Savannah State (2-0) at the same time the following evening and it will be the first meeting between the two programs.

The Birds will wrap up play against tournament host and ninth-ranked Baylor (3-0) at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have split the previous 12 matchups, but the Bears have won the last four contests, including an 87-82 overtime win at the 2009 NCAA Tournament.
