IRVING — The outside hitting duo of McKenzie Adams and Dajana Boskovic was named first-team All-Conference USA in a vote by the circuit's head coaches, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Adams, the C-USA Preseason Player of the Year and the national leader in kills per set, was one of only two unanimous selection after earning seven C-USA Player of the Week Awards (six offensive/one defensive) during her senior campaign. She was the first player in program history and only the fifth in the history of the conference to be named the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week on Nov. 5.
The Schertz native has averaged a league-best 5.69 winners and 6.16 points per set in addition to ranking 14th with 3.69 digs per frame. Adams currently ranks 10th among active Division I players in career kills (1,562) and winners per set (4.04). She also is one of only 10 active players with at least 1,500 kills and 1,000 digs.
Meanwhile, Boskovic also named to the C-USA All-Freshman team. She ranks second among all league frosh in hitting percentage (.289) and fifth in kills per set (3.04). The Bileca, Bosnia and Herzegovina, native topped the league's freshmen with a .303 hitting percentage in conference matches and second with 3.33 kills per stanza. Boskovic has reached double-digit kills in 17 matches this season, tallied three separate double-digit dig performances and had nine blocks in the Roadrunners' four-set victory on Oct. 11 at Southern Mississippi.
UTSA (21-7) will begin C-USA Tournament play at noon on Friday against the winner of Thursday's first-round match between Southern Miss and UTEP.
