SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will close out regular season play on Sunday with a 1 p.m. home match against Tulsa. The winner will claim this year's Conference USA Regular Season Championship.
With Friday's win over East Carolina and Tulsa's come-from-behind, five-set victory at UTEP, the two teams set up a de facto winner-take-all championship match for the league title.
Three-time defending C-USA Champion Tulsa (23-5, 12-1 C-USA) is led by senior outside hitter Kellie Culbertson, whose career-high 33 kills at UTEP was the fourth-best performance in program history, and she has recorded 1,123 career kills, which ranks third in school annals. Brooke Berryhill set a school mark on Friday night with 41 digs.
UTSA (20-7, 12-1 C-USA) is guaranteed a top-two seed at next week's C-USA Tournament, which will take place in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
