SAN ANTONIO — UTSA Cheer's group stunt team recently was ranked as the top squad in the country by the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA).
The Roadrunners, who were 11th a year ago, finished ahead of Louisiville, Sam Houston State, North Carolina State and Columbus State (click here for the complete rankings).
UTSA's team is made up of back spot Jamille Henderson (Sr., Kingwood, Texas), main base Lindsey Ellis (Jr., Plano, Texas), side base Amysue Sanchez (Jr., El Paso, Texas) and flyer Melody Ramos (So., Laredo, Texas).
"This is the same group that submitted an entry video to UCA last year, so this was a huge improvement for them," Spirit Coordinator Jason Gregory said. "It shows just how hard they have been working this past year and I am extememly proud of what they have accomplished."
