SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will enter the final weekend of regular season play with a Friday match against East Carolina. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center and the Roadrunners (19-7, 11-1 C-USA) will honor seniors McKenzie Adams, Paige Hamilton, and Brandy Huskey prior to first serve.
A victory against the Pirates (13-17, 3-9 C-USA) would set up a potential Conference USA regular season championship match on Sunday when three-time defending conference champion Tulsa (22-5, 11-1 C-USA) comes to town for a 1 p.m. tilt. Both teams enter the weekend in a first-place tie with matching 11-1 league records.
A win also would mark the fourth consecutive season that UTSA has reached the 20-win plateau. It would be the longest such streak since the Roadrunners accomplished the feat from 1987-90. There only have been two 20-win seasons (1999 and 2000) between the two respective streaks.
East Carolina is coming off of a five-set loss to Charlotte and it will be looking to secure a place in the postseason tournament. The Pirates are averaging 11.39 kills per set and they own a .165 attack percentage.
