LIVE OAK — Mike Medrano's third-place performance helped lead UTSA to the UIW Cardinals Invitational team title on Saturday.
The junior from Mission circled the 8,000-meter Live Oak City Park loop in 26:13.98 and he was the team's top finisher for the fourth consecutive meet.
Nathan Collier (13th/26:55.55), Nolawie Teshome (14th/26:56.21), Joaquin Ortegon (18th/27:19.99) and Saul Vasquez (19th/27:21.55) rounded out the Roadrunners' scorers.
UTSA topped the field of five Division I teams with 31 points. Texas State (47) and Texas-Pan American (91) rounded out the top three.
The Roadrunners will be back in action next Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational.
