TULSA, Okla. — Yannick Junger advanced to the third round of the pre-qualifying singles draw to highlight action for UTSA at this past weekend's ITA All-American Championships.
Junger opened the bracket with a 7-5, 6-3 victory against Duk Young Park of Morgan State and then downed Mississippi State's Robin Haden in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) in the second round. The junior from Stuttgart, Germany, was ousted by Penn State's Tomas Hanzlik in the third round by scores of 6-4, 6-4.
Diogo Casa, Joel Rubio and Tomas Stillman also posted first-round victories in the draw.
Casa outlasted Jocelyn Devilliers of Wichita State, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Rubio swept Nevada's Quentin Mege by a 6-3, 6-2 count and Stillman took care of Matthew Campbell of Oklahoma State, 6-1, 6-1.
However, that trio of Roadrunners was eliminated in the second round.
UTSA will return to action this weekend at the Ron Westbrooks Invitational (Oct. 4-6).
