ROUND ROCK — Mike Medrano's 10th-place performance helped lead UTSA to a runner-up finish at Friday night's Texas Invitational.
The junior from Mission covered the Old Settlers Park 8,000-meter loop in 25:31.26 and he crossed the finish line as the squad's top performer for the second consecutive week.
Nathan Collier placed 15th in 26:27.95, while Joaquin Ortegon (17th/26:34.70), Harvinder Singh (18th/26:36.88) and Nolawie Teshome (19th/26:37.20) rounded out the team's scorers.
Texas, which was led by individual champion Craig Lutz (24:02.38), easily won the team title with 15 points. The Roadrunners scored 58 and Houston Baptist (73) rounded out the top three.
UTSA will return to action next Friday, Oct. 4, when it competes at the Notre Dame Invitational.
