ROUND ROCK — Emily Perez helped lead UTSA to a runner-up finish at Friday night's Texas Invitational.
The sophomore from Mission covered the Old Settlers Park 5,000-meter loop in 17:36.61 and she crossed the finish line as the squad's top performer for first time this fall.
Stephanie Wangui (19th/18:44.18), Kerstin Sheeham (21st/18:57.44), Grace Kohler (24th/19:20.63) and Kristina Cantu (26th/19:36.65) rounded out the team's scorers.
Texas easily won the team title with 18 points. The Roadrunners scored 56 and Houston Baptist (64) rounded out the top three.
Olivia Mickle (unattached) won the individual crown in 16:34.31, while the Longhorns' Brittany Marches (17:28.27) finished as the top collegian.
UTSA will return to action next Friday, Oct. 4, when it competes at the Notre Dame Invitational.
