IRVING — Nina Herrera was named Conference USA Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Nina Herrera raced to a second-place finish and led the Roadrunners to a runner-up performance at Friday's UTSA Ricardo Romo Classic. The senior from El Paso covered the soggy 5,000-meter course in 17:56.6 and she now has finished as the team's top finisher at the last two meets.
It marked the third weekly honor of her four-year career, as she earned consecutive Southland Conference Athlete of the Week accolades during the 2011 campaign (Sept. 13 & 20).
UTSA will return to action on Friday evening at the Texas Invitational.
