IRVING — McKenzie Adams was named Conference USA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Adams, a 6-foot-3 senior outside hitter, earned all-tournament honors at last weekend's Tigers Classic after averaging 6.25 kills, 4.00 digs and 6.46 points per set in three matches.
The Schertz native registered 29 kills, hit .344, posted 20 digs and added three block assists in Friday's season-opening, four-set loss to tournament host LSU. She then had 23 kills, 10 digs and a pair of block assists the following day in a 3-1 setback to San Diego State. The preseason C-USA Player of the Year recorded her third double-double of the weekend with 23 kills and 18 digs in helping lead the Roadrunners to a 3-1 victory against UC Davis on Saturday evening.
The Roadrunners will host the UTSA Classic this Thursday-Friday at the Convocation Center. UTSA opens tournament play against Lamar (1-3) at 11 a.m. on Thursday before facing No. 9 Florida (3-0) at 4:30 p.m. later that day. UTSA then will square off with Loyola Marymount (2-1) at noon on Friday and Texas A&M (2-1) at 7 p.m. later that night.
