DENVER, Colo. — No. 66 and second-seeded San Jose State ended No. 7 seed UTSA's season with a 4-0 victory on Thursday in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals at Gates Tennis Center.
The Spartans (17-5) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after winning the top two flights of doubles play.
Chau Truong gave San Jose State a 2-0 advantage with a straight-sets victory at No. 3 singles. Minutes later, Klaudia Boczova, the nation's 53rd-ranked singles player, posted a 6-4, 6-1 win against Jacobea Junger at the top spot and Erica Medlin clinched the contest with a straight-sets triumph at the fourth position.
The Roadrunners finished the spring with a 7-13 record.
The Spartans will meet No. 3 seed Louisiana Tech in Friday's semifinals.
