CSU Bakersfield rolls past UTSA on Saturday night, 10-1

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — CSU Bakersfield received 7.2 innings of five-hit ball from Scott Brattvet and the Roadrunners rolled past UTSA, 10-1, on Saturday night at Hardt Field.

Brattvet (6-1) allowed only an unearned run in the second, walked three and struck out six.

After UTSA (19-15, 4-6 WAC) took a 1-0 lead on John Welborn's RBI single in the second, CSUB (23-13, 8-3 WAC) plated four runs in its half of the frame to give the right-hander the lead and he made it stick.

CSU Bakersfield added another tally in the sixth, three in the seventh and two more in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Mylz Jones went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, while Tyler Shryock was 1-for-5 with three RBIs to pace CSUB, which tallied 10 hits in the contest.

Michael Kraft (1-4) gave up four runs on two hits in his 1.2 stanzas of work.

The weekend series concludes at 3 p.m. (CT) on Sunday. UTSA will send left-hander Nolan Trabanino (3-2, 4.46 ERA) to the mound and CSU Bakersfield will counter with southpaw Jonathan Montoya (3-1, 2.08 ERA).
