ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Daniel Rockett was named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Hitter of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon. It marks the second time in the last three weeks that he has earned the weekly award.
Rockett, who also was recognized on Feb. 18, hit .538 (7-for-13) in leading UTSA to a perfect 4-0 record last week. He posted a pair of doubles, a home run, three RBIs, a stolen base and scored twice during the week. The Sugar Land native slugged .923 and reached base at a .571 clip.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder is off to the best start of his career. He leads the WAC in batting average (.553), slugging percentage (.936), on-base percentage (.589), hits (26), doubles (7) and total bases (44).
UTSA (9-3) will return to action on Tuesday night in a non-conference game at I-35 rival Texas State (4-7). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Bobcat Ballpark.
