SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will return to action this weekend when it hosts the UTSA Classic at Wolff Stadium. The Roadrunners will host Omaha (0-0) at 6 p.m. on Friday before taking on Penn State (1-5) at the same time the following evening and Stephen F. Austin at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The Roadrunners will be meeting the Mavericks for the first time in program history on Friday night, while the Nittany Lions hold a 2-1 edge in the all-time series. UTSA and the Lumberjacks, former Southland Conference foes, will square off for the 37th time on Sunday. The Birds own a 22-14 advantage in that series.
Left-hander Michael Kraft (0-1, 2.57 ERA) will start the tournament opener for UTSA and he will be opposed by Omaha righty Matt Tew.
Roadrunners right-hander Brock Hartson (0-1, 5.40 ERA) will toe the rubber in Saturday's tilt against Penn State and righty Steven Hill (0-2, 7.15 ERA) will get the call for the Nittany Lions.
UTSA has yet to name a start for the event's final contests, but Stephen F. Austin is expected to send right-hander Cameron Gann (0-1, 2.16 ERA) to the mound.
