LEXINGTON, Ky. — Junior outside hitter McKenzie Adams was selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-West Region Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The 2012 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Year is the first Roadrunner to earn all-region honors in program history.
The 6-foot-3 outside hitter became the third player in WAC history to be named Player of the Week five times during the season (Hawai'i's Kanani Danielson 2009/New Mexico's Pauline Manser 1991). She finished second in the league with 4.85 points and 4.35 kills per set, while her mark of 3.84 digs was good for fourth. The Schertz native also was named to the conference's all-tournament team.
Adams has collected superlative awards in the first three seasons of her career.
Last year, she was named the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year and, in 2010, she was tabbed the NCAA East Region, Atlantic Coast Conference and Virginia Sports Information Directors Freshman of the Year while competing at Virginia.
