ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Junior McKenzie Adams was named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. It marks the second consecutive week and fourth time overall this season that Adams has earned the league's weekly award.
Adams guided UTSA to road sweeps at UT Arlington and Louisiana Tech last week and the Roadrunners now have won four consecutive matches and swept their last three opponents.
The 6-foot-3 outside hitter averaged 5.33 kills and 3.83 digs while hitting at a .310 clip in the the two victories.
The Schertz native logged her team-leading 16th double-double of the campaign with 21 kills and 14 digs against the Mavericks last Thursday. Her 21 winners were a season high for UTSA in a three-set match. Two days later, Adams tallied a match-high 11 kills and just missed another double-double with nine digs.
Adams ranks second in the WAC with 4.77 points and 4.26 kills per set, while her 3.75 digs stand fifth.
UTSA (17-8, 10-5 WAC) returns to action at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday against Denver (15-11, 8-7 WAC).
