SAN ANTONIO — Head coach John Knauer announced Wednesday that Bryce Alley (Longview, Texas/Pine Tree HS) and Kyle Francis (San Antonio, Texas/Reagan HS) have signed National Letters of Intent. The pair will join the Roadrunners for the 2013-14 season.
“We are extremely excited to have Bryce and Kyle join our squad,” Knauer said. “They both bring tremendous experience at the state and national level. Our coaching staff feels like they, along with our current returning players, will help lead us to the next horizon for the UTSA golf program.”
Bryce Alley · Longview, Texas (Pine Tree HS)
Three-time Texas 4A-Region II qualifier and first-team all-district performer for Longview Pine Tree High School … District 14-4A Champion as a sophomore … earned first-team all-region accolades as a junior and advanced to the state tournament … two-time honorable mention all-state performer … captured six individual titles and a pair of runner-up finishes at the district and region championships in 2011-12 … named the 2012 Legends Junior Tour Boys 15-18 Division Player of the Year … won the 2011 Holiday Classic and 2012 Spring Preview … posted a runner-up finish at the 2012 Junior PGA Championship North Qualifier … fired a five-under-par 66 en route to a third-place showing at the 2012 HP Byron Nelson Junior Championship.
Kyle Francis · San Antonio, Texas (Reagan HS)
Two-time all-district player at San Antonio Reagan High School … also earned all-region honors as a junior … has been a mainstay of the Rattlers’ top five all four years … helped lead Reagan to district championships in (year) and a region title as a (year in school) … a member of two state championship team appearances, including a third-place showing his freshman year … won the Texas Juniors Masters, which qualified him for the 2012 Callaway Junior World Championship in San Diego, Calif. … posted a runner-up finish at the Texas Junior Golf Tour Major … finished third at the 2012 American Junior Golf Association Genesis Shootout held at Fair Oaks Ranch.
