ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Junior McKenzie Adams was named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week, the league office announced on Friday. It marks the fifth time this season that Adams has earned the league's weekly award.
Adams closed out the regular season by guiding the Roadrunners to their seventh consecutive victory in a sweep at San Jose State on Thursday night.
The 6-foot-3 outside hitter posted her team-leading 19th double-double of the fall with a match-high 17 kills and a dozen digs. She also hit at a .424 clip and added two solo blocks, a pair of assists and a service ace.
Adams leads the WAC with 4.88 points and 4.37 kills per set, while her 3.77 digs stand fifth.
UTSA (20-8) will enter next week's WAC Tournament, which will be played at the Convocation Center, as the event's third seed and it will play No. 6 seed San Jose State (14-15) at 12 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19. The Roadrunners swept the season series with the Spartans and dropped just one set in the two victories.
