SAN ANTONIO — Head women’s golf coach Carrie Parnaby announced Wednesday that Libby Thomas (Midland, Texas/Lee HS) has signed a National Letter of Intent. Thomas will join the Roadrunners for the 2013-14 season.
“We are all very excited for Libby to join the Roadrunners family,” Parnaby said. “She is a very hard worker, great student and will be a great representative for UTSA. She has already shown a tremendous amount of excitement and pride for Roadrunners golf and we look forward to her arrival on campus.”
Thomas has logged a total of seven American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) top-10 finishes and has earned three AJGA Low Final Round awards. The Midland Lee High School standout was the district runner-up as a junior and tied for 24th place at the Class 5A state tournament last May. She earned district medalist honors with an eight-stroke victory as a sophomore and qualified for the regional tournament.
Thomas also was named to the Texas Junior Golf Tour’s All-Tour Team for the 2010-11 season and, in 2009, she was named Texas Legends Golf Tour Player of the Year and earned the AJGA Bob Estes Sportsmanship Award.
Thomas also is an active member of the Principal’s Advisory Council and recently was inducted into the National Honor Society.
