UTSA men place sixth at Western Athletic Conference Championships

RUSTON, La. — Senior Daniel Balbotnin raced to second-team all-league honors and UTSA finished sixth at Saturday's Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships.

Balbontin covered the Lincoln Parish Park 8,000-meter trail in 25:02.06, which was good for 11th place in the 70-man field.

Junior Kyle Hawley just missed All-WAC accolades with his 15th-place performance (25:07.49), while sophomore Mike Medrano finished 31st (25:34.46) and did not pace the team for the first time this fall.

UTSA's other scorers included sophomore Harvinder Singh (32nd/25:38.86) and junior Nathan Collier (25:41.09).

UT Arlington edged defending champion Utah State by just four points for the team title and Seattle's Erik Barkhaus won the individual crown in 24:02.90.

The Roadrunners will return to action on Friday, Nov. 9, at the NCAA South Central Regional in Fayetteville, Ark.
