UTSA falls at No. 12 Texas A&M on Saturday, 2-0

COLLEGE STATION — No. 12 Texas A&M scored just before intermission and added another goal early in the second half to top UTSA, 2-0, on Saturday night at Ellis Field.

The Roadrunners (0-3) held the Aggies (2-1) scoreless for much of the first half, until Annie Kunz gave the home squad a 1-0 lead just 18 seconds before halftime. After freshman goalkeeper Katarina Pus stopped Kunz' initial shot, the Golden, Colo., native put home the rebound to give Texas A&M the lead.

Then, in the 55th minute, Meghan Streight headed in a corner kick from Chelsea Jones to push the advantage to 2-0.

That was more than enough, as UTSA was unable to find the back of the net on its six shots in the second stanza.

Junior Maria Jose Rojas led the Birds with three shots, including a pair of shots on goal, while Pus registered seven saves on the night.

The Aggies accumulated 24 shots in their home opener.

The Roadrunners will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, when they host Eastern Michigan (0-1-1) in the second game of the UTSA Classic.
