LEANDER — One day after being named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week, sophomore McKenzie Adams earned National Player of the Week accolades from Collegiate Volleyball Update on Tuesday. Adams is the first national honoree in the program's 29-year history.
The 6-foot-3 middle hitter helped the Roadrunners extend their winning streak to six matches last week after hitting at a .639 clip on the strength of 25 kills (4.17 kps).
The Schertz native set a program with a .762 hitting percentage at McNeese State last Saturday and she added 16 kills and six total blocks in the team's sixth consecutive sweep to open the league slate. That came on the heels of a nine-kill, five-block performance last Tuesday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
UTSA (12-8, 6-0 SLC) returns to the court at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday when it opens a four-match home stand against Southeastern Louisiana (4-19, 0-6 SLC).
