ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Sophomore Ryan Werre and redshirt freshman Martin Board tied for 34th place to lead UTSA to a 12th-place finish at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, which wrapped up Saturday at New Mexico Championship Golf Course (par 72/7,562 yards).
Werre and Board finished at nine-over-par 225 to help lead the Roadrunners to a 54-hole total of 911 (305-293-313). They finished three strokes ahead of Wyoming (914) and nine ahead of UTEP (920).
Board recorded three birdies in shooting a final-round 76 and finished the tournament with eight. Meanwhile, Werre had nine birdies overall, including a half dozen in Friday's second round.
Junior Stanton Tondre tied for 62nd with a 231 (76-75-80), while juniors Nicko Dodd and Mitchell Griffin placed 78th (78-81-78=237) and 84th (81-74-84=239), respectively.
No. 11 UNLV captured the team title with a three-over 867, followed by No. 15 New Mexico (871) and San Diego State (883). BYU's Zachary Blair took individual medalist honors with a 209 (69-70-70).
The Roadrunners will conclude their fall campaign from Oct. 16-18 when they host the Lone Star Invitational at Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
