UTSA men to run at TLU Preview on Saturday

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA returns to the course on Saturday for its second meet of the fall when it travels to Seguin for the TLU Preview. The Roadrunners, who currently are ranked fifth in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's South Central Regional poll, will run a 7,600-meter loop beginning at 8:30 a.m. on the campus of Texas Lutheran University.

Nine teams — Concordia, Howard Payne, Huston-Tillotson, Prairie View A&M, Schreiner, Texas A&M International, Texas State, Trinity and UT-Dallas will join UTSA in the field, which consists of 87 entries.

The Birds are coming off last Thursday's season-opening Trinity Hokum Karem Relay, where head coach Scott Slade ran just two relay teams.

Redshirt freshmen Brady Hand and Cameron Courtney clocked a 24:26 in en route to second-place honors in the 7,600m (4x1,900m) race, while senior Canel Cole and redshirt frosh Chrisshun Jamerson were 20 seconds back in fifth.

UTSA currently sits behind Arkansas, Texas, Texas A&M and Lamar in the regional standings, while being ranked ahead of schools such as Rice (8), Baylor (9), TCU (13), Houston (14) and LSU (15).
