UTSA men to compete at ITA/D'Novo All-American Championships

SAN ANTONIO — Eight members of the UTSA men's tennis squad will compete at this weekend's ITA/D'Novo All-American Championships. The nine-day tournament is scheduled to begin on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., and a field of more than 300 players is expected to play.

Seniors Daniel Moser and Pedro Zanotelli, juniors Martin Ayala and Tyler Brown, sophomore Yannick Junger and freshman Joel Rubio all will compete in pre-qualifying singles.

Junger will kick off the first round for the Roadrunners at 8 a.m. against Iowa's Jonas Dierckx. Rubio will take the court an hour later against George Washington's Alexander vanGils, while Brown follows at 10 a.m. against New Mexico's Ben Dunbar. Zanotelli will match up with Clemson's Zachary Rigsby at 11 a.m. and Moser wraps up UTSA's first-round competition when he plays at noon against San Francisco's Zach Jiganti.

Ayala received a bye in the opening round and will play his second-round tilt at 5 p.m.

The event also features doubles play following the pre-qualifying singles round.
