VIA adds new park and ride location for U.S. Highway 281 North

SAN ANTONIO — VIA Metropolitan Transit has added a new park and ride location for UTSA home football game days, beginning with this Saturday's game with Bacone. In addition to the Crossroads, UTSA and Madla locations, VIA now will run park and ride service to the Alamodome from Parkhills Baptist Church on U.S. Highway 281 North.

Service hours and cost to each rider ($2.50 each way/$5 round trip & $1.25 each way/$2 round trip for UTSA students) will be the same as the other locations.

For more information, click here or go to UTSA's Game Day website.

UTSA Game Day Transportation
Option 1: Park & Ride
Inexpensive and convenient transportation to and from the Alamodome will be provided on game days from three park and ride locations. Service to the Alamodome will begin three hours prior to kickoff (10 a.m. this Saturday) with the last trip to the game departing 45 minutes before game time. The last returning bus will depart from the Alamodome 45 minutes after the official end of the game.

For departures from UTSA, parking will be available on Saturdays in any unmarked space in Lot 5.

Special event tokens from any VIA location will cost $2.50 each way ($5 round trip), but UTSA students may purchase tokens at a student rate of $1.25 each way ($2.50 round trip). A current UTSA Student ID is required to receive the student rate and must be displayed when boarding. VIA daily, monthly and semester bus passes ARE NOT valid for special event service.

Special event tokens may be purchased in advance at the University Center on the Main Campus, on VIA’s website or at all VIA Information Centers. While we suggest buying the tokens in advance, tokens will also be available at the park and ride locations on game days.

Option 2: Regular VIA Service from the Downtown Campus
VIA’s regular Yellow Streetcar route provides service between the UTSA Downtown Campus and the Alamodome from a VIA stop near Lot D3. This lot is located underneath IH-35 at Durango. Look for VIA’s temporary bus stop signage and VIA personnel. (NOTE: VIA runs regular buses instead of streetcars on the Yellow Streetcar route)

The Yellow Streetcar route frequency is approximately every 10 minutes.

The cost of the Yellow Streetcar route is $1.10 each way, but UTSA students may board at a student rate of $.55 each way. A current UTSA Student ID is required to receive the student rate. Please have exact fare ready as the bus operators do not provide change. VIA daily, monthly and semester bus passes are valid for the Yellow Streetcar route.

Parking will be available on Saturdays in any unmarked spaces at the Downtown Campus in Lots D3 and D4 under IH-35 (see map).

Passengers may bring drinks on the bus but they must be in sealable containers. Food items and alcoholic beverages are not allowed.
