SAN ANTONIO — Senior Cole Reveal won the Ricardo Romo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas/H-E-B Classic Championship on Friday night and his performance helped propel UTSA to its second team title in the last three years at its annual home meet.
Reveal covered the 5,000-meter Park West Athletics Complex course in 14:52.1 to lead four UTSA runners that placed in the top eight. It marked the second time in the last three years that the Frisco native finished as the meet's top collegian.
Senior Albert Cardenas, the reigning Southland Conference Athlete of the Week, placed third in 15:06.7, while fellow senior Brandon Chiuminetta recorded a 15:17.1, which was good for fifth place. Redshirt freshman Brady Hand rounded out the quartet of top-eight finishers with his 15:30.5 clocking.
The Roadrunners, who were victorious at last Saturday's TLU Preview in Seguin, easily won their second consecutive meet with 31 points. Texas-Pan American (55) and Texas State (65) rounded out the top three.
UTSA will be back in action on Monday, Sept. 26, when it travels to Nacogdoches for the Southland Pre-Conference meet.
