Roadrunners women to host Ricardo Romo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas/H-E-B Classic

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will return to the course on Friday night when it hosts its annual Ricardo Romo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas/H-E-B Classic. The women's 5,000-meter race will kick off the festivities at 6:30 p.m. at the site of the future UTSA Park West Athletics Complex.

The Roadrunners will welcome 10 schools — Hardin-Simmons, Howard Payne, Our Lady of the Lake, Schreiner, SMU, Texas-Pan American, Texas A&M International, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas Lutheran and Texas State — to the meet and a total of 98 student-athletes will make up the field.

UTSA is coming off a victory at last Saturday's TLU Preview in Seguin.

Sophomore Nina Herrera, who was named Southland Conference Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, led a Roadrunners contingent that saw five of its runners finish in the top 10. The El Paso native completed the 5,000-meter course in 18:04 to finish as the meet’s top collegian (second overall).

On Saturday, nearly 3,400 high school athletes will compete in a total of 14 races that will be contested beginning at 8:15 a.m.

Admission is free and directions to the course can be found in the related links box toward the top right of this release. Complete results will be posted online at goUTSA.com each evening.
