FRISCO — Senior Albert Cardenas was named Southland Conference Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Cardenas led a UTSA 1-2-3 finish and the Roadrunners cruised to the team title at Saturday's TLU Preview in Seguin. The Converese native clocked a 24:21.4 on the 7,600-meter course to claim the first gold medal of his career. He now has been the team's top finisher at its last six regular season meets dating back to last year's Trinity Opener.
The Roadrunners return to the course on Friday night when they host the Ricardo Romo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas/H-E-B Texas Classic.
