SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Jake Mullin threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Delfonte Diamond with 19 seconds remaining to give McMurry a 24-21 victory against UTSA on Saturday in front of 31,634 fans at the Alamodome.
The Division III War Hawks took a 17-14 lead with 7:07 to go when Markell Rice recovered a blocked punt and ran eight yards for a score. UTSA came back to lead four minutes later when David Glasco II ran seven yards for a touchdown with 3:02 remaining on the clock.
Mullin, who completed 29-of-45 passes for 372 yards and one interception in addition to running for a 1-yard score, then found Diamond for the game-winner.
Diamond finished with game highs of seven receptions for a career-best 142 yards.
Eric Soza was 15-of-28 for 255 yards and two touchdowns for the Roadrunners. He also ran a dozen times for 51 yards, as UTSA racked up 487 total yards, including 232 on the ground.
Meanwhile, the Roadrunners limited McMurry to just three rushing yards on 20 attempts, but the War Hawks amassed 372 through the air.
Marlon Smith led UTSA with nine tackles, including four sacks, and he also broke up three passes.
UTSA beat Northeastern State, 31-3, last week in the program's inaugural game.
