SAN ANTONIO — Sophomore Nina Herrera led a UTSA contingent that saw five of its runners finish in top 10 and the Roadrunners easily won the TLU Preview team title on Saturday.
Herrera circled the 5,000-meter loop in 18:04.0 and the El Paso native finished as the meet's top collegian. Meanwhile, sophomore Alyssa Diaz earned a bronze medal with her 18:09.7 effort.
UTSA also saw freshman Carly Kitts (fifth/18:17.4), sophomore Samantha Fish (sixth/18:17.7) and redshirt soph Jessica Bitterly (10th/18:32.5) contribute to the team's winning total of 21 points.
Texas State netted 47 points, which was good for second place, and Trinity scored 59 to round out the top three teams.
The Roadrunners return to the course next Friday, Sept. 16, when they host their annual Ricardo Romo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas/H-E-B Classic.
