SAN ANTONIO — Senior Albert Cardenas led a UTSA 1-2-3 finish and the Roadrunners cruised to the team title at Saturday's TLU Preview.
Cardenas covered the 7,600-meter loop 24:21.4 and the Converse native finished just ahead of fellow senior Cole Reveal, who was credited with the same time despite finishing behind his teammate. Senior Brandon Chiuminetta was one tick back (24:21.5) in third.
Sophomore Joaquin Ortegon clocked a 24:46.4, which was good for seventh place and fellow soph Brady Hand rounded out the Roadrunners' scorers with his 10th-place showing (24:53.2).
UTSA scored 22 points en route to the team championship. Texas State (48) and Trinity (73) rounded out the top three.
The Roadrunners return to the course next Friday, Sept. 16, when they host their annual Ricardo Romo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas/H-E-B Classic.
