SAN ANTONIO — For the first time in program history the UTSA soccer team was placed on Top Drawer Soccer’s “Tournament 64” rankings.
The defending Southland Conference Champion Roadrunners, 13-8-2 overall a year ago, open the season at the No. 63 spot and are the only league school garnering mention in the standings.
UTSA opens its 2011 season this weekend with matches with UC Irvine (Friday) and Fresno State (Sunday). The Anteaters and Bulldogs are ranked Nos. 32 and 51, respectively.
The “Tournament 64” rankings are a running attempt to project the postseason college soccer tournament qualifiers, including each automatic conference berth. New rankings will be posted on the organization’s website every Monday.
