SAN ANTONIO — Junior-to-be Paola Valerio will represent her native Mexico at the World University Games from August 17-20 in Shenzhen, China.
The Mexico City native will compete in the individual and team competitions at the Mission Hills Golf Club with final rounds and medal ceremonies taking place on Saturday.
The event is an international multi-sport event organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
As a sophomore last season, Valerio set school records for lowest round (66), 54-hole score (212) and season stroke-average (75.25) en route to being tabbed the Southland Conference Player of the Year. She tied for fifth at the Southland Championship to help UTSA win its first-ever league crown and was the Roadrunners' highest finisher at the NCAA West Regional.
