Newlin to compete at U.S. Women?s Amateur

SAN ANTONIO — Sophomore-to-be Taylor Newlin will compete at the 111th United States Women’s Amateur Championship starting Monday, Aug. 8, in Barrington, R.I.

The Frisco native will tee off from the first hole at 7:39 a.m. (CT) at the Rhode Island Country Club (6,399 yards, par 71).

Newlin, a second-team All-Southland Conference selection last season, will look to advance past the first two rounds of stroke play as the field of 156 players will be cut to 64 for match play beginning on Wednesday.

The tournament will have 10 hours of television coverage on The Golf Channel over the final five days of the event.
