SAN ANTONIO —UTSA will be in search of its fourth consecutive Southland Conference series victory this week when it hosts Lamar for three games at Roadrunner Field. Thursday and Friday's contests are scheduled for 6 p.m. and Saturday's finale is slated for 2 p.m.
The Roadrunners (16-22, 8-10 SLC) scored 43 runs and pounded out 46 hits in taking two of three games from Northwestern State last weekend at the Bird Bath. UTSA batted .393 as a team during the series and belted seven home runs, including three from sophomore Ryan Dalton and two off the bat of junior Matthew James. Freshman Riley Good, who sports a team-best .373 batting average, collected a team-high eight hits and that pushed his season total to 62, which ranks fourth in the NCAA and second nationally among freshmen.
The Roadrunners will send the same starting rotation to the mound for the third consecutive weekend.
Junior southpaw Casey Selsor (3-3, 4.19 ERA) will make his 10th start of the season in Thursday's series opener. Senior right-hander Taylor Walton (4-4, 4.07 ERA) also will make his 10th start on Friday night and junior righty Jordan Langley (3-3, 6.33 ERA) will take the ball in Saturday's finale.
Lamar (22-16, 9-9 SLC) was swept last weekend at Sam Houston State, a series that saw it score just eight runs.
The Cardinals hold a 24-22 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 1996, but UTSA has won three of the last five meetings.
