Volleyball program lends helping hand

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA volleyball team took a break from spring practice to volunteer with Haven for Hope last Friday.

The squad spent time at the organization's campus, which consists of 15 buildings on 37 acres, including its own dining facility, and assisted in serving dinner to more than 300 residents.

"It was a great experience to share with our teammates," junior Kelsey Jewasko said. "Everyone we interacted with had a very positive outlook and were appreciative of us helping out. It really makes you appreciate and be thankful for everything you have and the opportunities presented, including playing volleyball and attending UTSA."

Haven for Hope is a private non-profit organization aimed at transforming the lives of homeless men, women and children in the San Antonio and Bexar County area. The organization runs the largest and most comprehensive homeless transformation campus in the nation.
