SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will hit the road on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Houston Baptist.
The Roadrunners (17-22) have won their last six nonconference outings, all against the Huskies and Texas Southern.
Senior Carrie Monroe will bring a five-game hitting streak into the twinbill. She is 9-for-16 (.563) during the stretch with a pair of three-hit performances to go along with a home run and three RBIs. Fellow senior Kristin Kappler and junior Ashley Kappler each homered and combined for nine RBIs while hitting .467 (7-for-15) and .353 (6-for-17), respectively, last week.
After clinching the Great West Conference Regular Season Championships on March 27, the Huskies (25-18) have dropped four of their last six contests, including a pair at Roadrunner Field on March 30.
Heading into Tuesday's doubleheader against Prairie View A&M, Callie Herrington is one of two players to start every game and she owns a .344 batting average with five home runs and 19 RBIs. Jammie Weidert picked up her fourth Great West Pitcher of the Week nod from the league office after going 1-1 and striking out 10 batters in a 1-0 victory at Stephen F. Austin on April 6. Weidert leads the squad with a 9-6 record and 1.94 ERA in 94 innings.
UTSA leads the all-time series 12-2, including wins in the last six meetings.
