SAN ANTONIO — UTSA begins an eight-game home stand at 6 p.m. on Tuesday against St. Edward's.
The Roadrunners (13-21) posted bookend wins to claim their second Southland Conference series at Stephen F. Austin last weekend. After starting 1-8 in league play, UTSA has won five of its last six.
Freshman Riley Good leads the offensive efforts with a .359 batting average. The Godley native, who has reached base safely in 25 consecutive games, is tied for third in the Southland with 52 hits, which includes nine doubles, two triples and a pair of homers.
Freshman southpaw Michael Kraft will be making his fourth start of the season on Tuesday but his first since March 6. Kraft's last four appearances have been out of the bullpen, including last Tuesday's five-inning stint against Texas Tech. The San Antonio native is 1-2 on the year with a 6.08 ERA, 19 strikeouts and 10 walks in 27.2 innings. His lone win came against Saint Joseph's on Feb. 27 when he worked 6.2 innings and limited the Hawks to three hits and an unearned run.
The Hilltoppers (17-16) have dropped their last four contests, including a three-game set at Incarnate Word over the weekend.
Adam Shank paces the St. Edward's offense with a .389 batting average, 10 doubles, five triples, six home runs and 47 RBIs. He leads a Hilltoppers contingent that has belted 21 long balls and owns a .313 team batting average. St. Edward's also boasts an aggressive running game that has produced 59 stolen bases this season.
Tyler Harris (0-0, 5.79 ERA) is slated to make his second start of the season against the Birds (14th appearance overall).
The two squads will be meeting for the 12th time but for the first time since a St. Edward's 8-5 victory on March 15, 2000. The all-time series dates back to the 1992 season and UTSA holds a 9-2 advantage.
