ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Junior right-hander Jordan Langley allowed just one run in 7.1 innings to lead UTSA to a split in a Saturday doubleheader at New Mexico on Saturday at Isotopes Park.

The Roadrunners (6-7) held on for a 3-1 victory in the nightcap after the Lobos (2-9) used a three-run rally in the ninth to win the opener, 6-5.

Game 2: UTSA 3, New Mexico 1

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Junior right-hander Jordan Langley allowed a run on just five hits and fanned four in 7.1 innings to lead UTSA to a doubleheader split at New Mexico on Saturday.

The Lobos threatened in the seventh against Langley, but a double-play grounder to short ended the threat. Pinch hitter Trey Porras scorched a grounder right at redshirt freshman RJ Perucki, who immediately threw to senior Tyler Carpenter at home. Carpenter applied the tag to John Michael Twichell at the plate and quickly threw to sophomore Ryan Dalton covering third base, who tagged out Quay Grant. Langley then induced a pop out off the bat of Alex Allbritton to work out of the jam.

Freshman right-hander Blake Denman came on with one out in the eighth after the Lobos recorded back-to-back singles and he forced back-to-back pop outs to preservce the Roadrunners' 3-1 lead. The Bellaire native then walked a batter in the ninth but retired the side to notch his first career save.

UTSA jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third when Perucki doubled home junior Matthew James and he later scored on a wild pitch.

New Mexico scored their lone run in the fifth on Sam Wilson's sacrifice fly, which brought home Grant.

The Roadrunners added an insurance run in the eighth after junior Casey Selsor singled to center field, which scored senior Tommy Vukovich, who came on as a pinch runner after sophomore Jake Wood doubled.

James went 3-for-4 to pace UTSA's nine-hit attack, while sophomore Ryan Dalton added a pair of hits.

The series concludes at 1 p.m. (CT) on Sunday.

Game 1: New Mexico 6, UTSA 5

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico rallied for three runs in the ninth to steal a victory from UTSA in the opener of Saturday's doubleheader.

The Roadrunners wasted a quality start from junior southpaw Casey Selsor, who surrendered just three runs on five and struck out a half dozen in eight strong innings.

UTSA held a 5-3 advantage heading into the deciding ninth before the Lobos' comeback took place.

Senior Zach Calhoon issued back-to-back walks before giving way to junior Cody Scott.

Both runners advanced following a Scott balk and, two batters later, Ben Woodchick doubled into the left field corner, which sent both runners across the plate, tying the score at five. Scott then walked DJ Peterson before giving up a game-winning single to Mitchell Garver.

That made a winner of Richard Olson (1-1), while Scott (1-2) was saddled with the loss.

After the teams exchanged runs in the first two frames, UTSA took 3-1 advantage with single tallies in fifth and sixth.

An Roadrunners error led to New Mexico's second run in the sixth.

Both teams tacked on single marks in the eighth to bring the score to 4-3.

UTSA added what appeared to be a deciding insurance run in the ninth when sophomore Daniel Rockett doubled in redshirt freshman RJ Perucki, who reached on a single before stealing second base.

Rockett paced UTSA with a 3-for-4 performance, while Perucki added a pair of hits, including a triple.
