Roadrunners to kick off seven-game home stand on Wednesday

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA returns to the friendly confines of Roadrunner Field this week when it kicks off a seven-game home stand on Wednesday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Houston Baptist.

The Roadrunners (12-17) have dropped three of their last four games, all by one run, including two of three last weekend at McNeese State.

Junior Caitlyn Ivy led the offense with a .545 batting average against the Cowgirls, including her second home run of the season, and she had a career-high four hits in the first contest with the Cowgirls.

Senior Danye Holmes gave UTSA its only win of the series with a complete-game victory in Sunday's finale. She allowed just four singles and walked one. It was the first complete game for the lefty since going 10 innings for a win against Nicholls on April 17, 2010.

The Huskies (21-14) have won seven of their last eight and clinched the Great West Conference Regular Season Championship with a pair of wins at South Dakota last weekend.

Rebecca Rademacher leads four players that hit .300 or better with a .367 average, while Sara Corcoran’s six homers and 27 RBIs are tops on the squad.

In the circle, Jammie Weidert owns an 8-4 record and 1.66 ERA to pace a group of hurlers that has posted a collective 2.36 ERA. Weidert was named the Great West Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, marking the third time she’s earned the award this spring.

UTSA leads the all-time series 10-2, including victories in the last four meetings.
