Southeastern Louisiana completes series sweep on Sunday, 10-4

SAN ANTONIO Southeastern Louisiana completed a weekend sweep of UTSA at Roadrunner Field with a 10-4 trimuph on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions (12-4, 3-0 SLC) used a pair of three-run innings early on en route to an 8-0 lead before the Roadrunners (6-12, 0-3 SLC) scored in the the fifth.

Jeff Harkensee and Josh Cryer hit back-to-back home runs off junior starter Jordan Langley in the third. Joe Sparacino later hit a two-out double, which scored Cody Gougler and put Southeastern Louisiana up, 6-0.

The Lions scratched across single runs in the fourth and fifth, including one off a perfectly-executed squeeze bunt by Brock Hebert.

UTSA picked up its first two runs in the bottom of the fifth after an RBI single by RJ Perucki and sacrifice fly off the bat of freshman Riley Good.

Gougler's two-run homer to left off freshman reliever Michael Kraft in the eighth gave Southeastern Louisiana a 10-2 cushion.

The Roadrunners added a mark in the bottom of the frame to pull within seven, but by then, it was too little, too late.

Good's run-scoring single with two down in the ninth plated sophomore Daniel Rockett with the contest's final run.

Tyler Watkins (3-0) scattered nine hits while allowing three runs (two earned) in seven innings of work. He fanned six.

Langley (1-2) lasted just 3.1 innings and was touched up for seven runs (six earned) on seven hitsand two walks.

Gougler led Southeastern's 13-hit attack by going 4-for-5 with four RBIs.

The Roadrunners tallied a dozen hits, but they stranded seven base runners.

Rockett was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs, while Good added two hits and drove in a pair.

UTSA will return to the diamond Tuesday when it hosts Notre Dame (6-7) in 6 p.m. tilt at Wolff Stadium.
