FRISCO — Fresh off a come-from-behind, 68-63 victory at UT Arlington on Saturday night, UTSA has earned the No. 7 seed for the State Farm Southland Conference Tournament and will face second seed Northwestern State at noon on Wednesday at the Merrell Center in Katy.
The Roadrunners completed their regular season at 16-13 overall and finished in a tie with Stephen F. Austin for third place in the West Division at 9-7 and in a three-way tie for fifth place overall.
The Demons are 18-13 overall and recorded a 10-6 Southland mark to finish second in the East Division and in a three-way tie with Sam Houston State and Texas State as runners-up to regular season champion McNeese State. UTSA defeated Northwestern State, 63-58, in the teams' only meeting this season on Jan. 19 in Natchitoches, La.
The victor will advance to Thursday’s 6 p.m. semifinal game to face the winner of No. 3 Sam Houston State/No. 6 Stephen F. Austin, which is slated for 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The other half of the bracket features No. 1 McNeese State against No. 8 Nicholls at 6 p.m. and No. 4 Texas State versus No. 5 Southeastern Louisiana at 8:30 p.m.
All tournament games can be viewed for free online through SLC NOW at southland.org. The semifinals will be televised by the Southland TV Network (KCWX digital channel 2.2 in San Antonio) and the championship game is slated for 3 p.m. on Saturday (ESPN2).

This marks the Roadrunners’ fourth consecutive and 17th overall appearance in the conference tournament.
Last season, UTSA was the No. 6 seed and lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the opening round. Two years ago as the six seed, the Roadrunners upset Sam Houston State and Nicholls en route to a championship game loss to Stephen F. Austin.
