SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches and went on to take four of the six singles contests to claim a 5-2 win against visiting Laredo Community College on Saturday.
Senior Caroline Dedering clinched the win for the Roadrunners (2-2) after posting a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Nathalia Silva in No. 5 singles.
UTSA also saw juniors Katie Ottenbreit and Micaela Silva and freshman Isabelle Jonsson claim singles triumphs.
Ottenbreit finished off Kimberly Evans with a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 6 singles, while Silva dispatched of Marilia Camara with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot. Meanwhile, Jonsson recorded the Birds' final point after outlasting Ivana Katavic, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3), at No. 2 singles.
The Palominos (0-1), ranked 11th in the Preseason ITA NJCAA Poll, picked up wins at Nos. 1 and 4 singles to claim their only points of the day.
UTSA will complete its three-match home stand next Saturday, Feb. 12, when it hosts Division II foe St. Edward's at 11 a.m.
