Roadrunners fall at Santa Clara on Sunday, 6-1

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — UTSA was able to finally take the court during its weekend road trip to the Bay Area, but the Roadrunners saw their three-match winning streak come to an end in a 6-1 loss at Santa Clara on Sunday.

UTSA (3-3) dropped the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches and surrendered the opening point to the Broncos (9-1).

Santa Clara went on to take five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets.

Junior Micaela Silva was the lone winner for the Birds. The Lima, Peru, native upended Alex Zaniewski in two sets, 6-3, 6-3.

UTSA will take next weekend off before opening Southland Conference play at Nicholls on Saturday, March 5.
