SORRENTO, Fla. — Sophomore Paola Valerio shot a three-under 69 on Monday to jump into a tie for 12th place on the individual leaderboard and her performance helped UTSA climb to 12th in the team standings after the second round of the UCF Challenge.

The Mexico City native carded seven birdies on the day, including four on the back nine, and her 36-hole score of 144 sits one stroke out of the top 10.

Freshman Fabiola Arriaga recorded a one-under 71, her best 18-hole score of the season, to jump into a tie for 18th with a 146 (75-71). After failing to card a birdie in the opening round, she hit one-under on Nos. 7, 9 and 17.

Junior Summer Batiste and freshman Taylor Newlin sit tied for 57th after shooting rounds of 77 and 79, respectively, while junior Bruna Spengler rounded out the scoring with an 81, which is good for 78th.

The Roadrunners are just three shots out of the top 10 with a 598 (302-296) and they sit ahead of Baylor and East Carolina, both of whom rank in golfstat.com's top 50.

Coastal Carolina, led by individual leader Jessica Alexander (135/66-69), moved to the top spot in the team standings and the Chanticleers will take a four-stroke lead into Tuesday's final round.
