SAN ANTONIO — Senior Briana Mason and sophomore Brittney Malloy recently were named honorable mention All-National by COBRA Magazine. The publication's purpose is to celebrate the success of volleyball players of African descent in hopes of encouraging girls across the country to pursue the sport. A month ago, the duo was named to the magazine's All-Southwest Region Team.
Mason, who garnered honorable mention All-Southland Conference accolades in November, finished her final campaign with 223 kills (1.86 kps) and led UTSA with 120 total blocks (29 solo/91 assists).
Meanwhile, Malloy, a sophomore, led the Roadrunner with a .308 hitting percentage and finished fourth on the squad with 213 winners (1.84 kps) this past season.
UTSA finished the 2010 campaign with a 22-12 overall record, its second Southland Conference Tournament Championship and the program's first appearance at the NCAA Championships in a decade.
